James L. Rogers

Patent Attorney

James Rogers is a patent attorney and former patent examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined hundreds of patent applications in the pharmaceutical and biotechology fields. While at the Patent Office, James gained subject matter expertise in large molecules such as antibodies and both upstream and downstream bioprocessing of such molecules. Prior to the Patent Office, James worked in-house as counsel for a diagnostic company and worked in private practice for several law firms in the intellectual propety field.

James earned his B.A. in Political Science and French from Union College, followed by his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He further earned an M.S. in biology with an emphasis on DNA recombinant technology from New York University, followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine, with an emphasis on immunology, from the University of South Florida College of Medicine.

James handles patent and trademark procurement, portfolio management, IP due diligence, and opinions including freedom-to-operate, validity, and patentability assessments, especially in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices.
